J&J Executive Joins Avon as CEO

Sherilyn McCoy has been appointed chief executive officer of Avon Products, Inc., effective April 23. Ms. McCoy will also serve as a director on Avon’s board. Current chairman and chief executive officer, Andrea Jung, will become executive chairman.
 
Ms. McCoy joins the company from Johnson & Johnson, where she spent the past three decades, most recently serving as vice chairman of J&J’s pharmaceutical, consumer, corporate office of science and technology, and information technology divisions. She joined J&J in 1982 as a scientist in the company’s personal products unit. She had been in charge of J&J’s pharmaceutical division since 2009 and has held senior management roles in the company’s medical device business.
 
“The new CEO has a unique combination of strategic and finely honed operational skills, a significant turnaround track record, global experience and people leadership,” said Fred Hassan, lead director of Avon’s Board. Mr. Hassan has held executive roles at several major pharma companies, most recently Schering-Plough.
